LICENSED AUTOMOTIVE MECHANIC OR 3rd YEAR APPRENTICE

 

Job Brief

 

We are a family owned and operated business seeking a Skilled and Licensed Automotive Technician to assist in maintenance and repair of customer vehicles. You will be responsible for troubleshooting issues and fixing them aiming to maximum reliability and functionality. You have good eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity. You are well-versed in complex mechanical or electrical systems of vehicles and have excellent problem-solving abilities. You are able to take direction well.

Responsibilities Include:

⦁ Inspecting vehicle engine and mechanical/electrical components to diagnose issues accurately

⦁ Inspecting vehicle computer and electronic systems to repair, maintain and upgrade

⦁ Conducting routine maintenance work aiming to vehicle functionality and longevity

⦁ Schedule future maintenance and advise customers on good vehicle use/care

⦁ Repair or replace broken or dysfunctional parts and fix issues (e.g. leaks)

⦁ Provide accurate estimates (cost, time, effort) for a repair or maintenance job

⦁ Prepare Work Order accordingly with all accurate and necessary information for records

⦁ Maintain shop equipment and tools – keep in good condition

⦁ Test drive vehicles after repairs are complete to ensure mechanical soundness and to determine whether any other problems exist

⦁ Describe vehicle’s condition to customer and answer any follow-up questions courteously and knowledgably in a way for customer to understand

⦁ Completing preventative maintenance such as, engine tune-ups, oil changes, tire rotation and changes, wheel balancing, replacing filters etc.

⦁ Maintain vehicles functional condition by listening to operator complaints, conducting inspections, repairing engine failures, repairing mechanical and electrical system malfunctions, replacing parts and components.

⦁ Verify vehicle serviceability by conducting test drives, adjusting controls and systems.

Requirements:

⦁ Proven experience as an automotive technician

⦁ Excellent knowledge of mechanical, electrical and electronic components of vehicles

⦁ Working knowledge of vehicle diagnostic systems and methods

⦁ Ability to handle various tools (e.g. Scan Tool) and heavy equipment

⦁ Willingness to observe all safety precautions for protections against accidents, dangerous fluids, chemicals etc.

⦁ Ability to operate diagnostic tools as required

⦁ Knowledge of tools and equipment required to conduct all repairs

⦁ Proof of Certification from College of Trades or completion of apprenticeship is preferred

⦁ Valid Driver’s License

⦁ Must have own tools
